I think a lying hammock is the most relaxing way to spend time in the sun. In fact, these days as hammocks are now so quick and easy to put up, the hardest thing involved is choosing one, deciding which kind of hammock would be best for you, you can even get indoor hammocks these days. There are so many kinds of different hammocks out there on the market but many people do not realise that most retailers divide hammocks up into three different groups depending on their material, the three groups being; string, fabric and rope.

Many people will recognise the type called Mayan hammocks; these are made up of string and are always hand woven. A lot of people do not realise that this hammock is named after the Central American people, the Mayans. Hammocks were actually first used by the Mayan people from Central America, amazingly around 2000 years ago and sure enough they are such a good invention that still In Mexico today people still use them. The Mayan hammock is often described as the most popular and one reason for this is due to the fact that they are all very elaborate and full of bright colours! I fin the marks that are left on you body with some hammocks really quite annoying, hence why Mayan hammocks are so great.

String hammocks are very useful to take when going camping or to the beach, as they are light that you can easily slip one into your bag! To really understand what a strong contraption a hammock is it is best to purchase one and find out for yourself. Hammocks are funny things, they were first designed to actually sleep a entire Mayan family, something we would hardly consider now it just goes to show how sturdy they are! I have learnt, just as the Mayan’s must have, that a hammock must have a good spread to make it a good hammock. If you are not able to hang the hammock from a tree in your yard then there is no need to worry as a hammock stand is very easy to find these days. Truth is, you cannot get much more traditional than a Mexican hammock, or my favourite the Hennessy hammock.

I prefer it when the hammock is fully wrapped around my body and sometimes having spreader bars can hamper this! Most fabric hammocks are made out of cotton. You should be able to have this type of hammock for a long time as they are so very durable. I know I do not like having deep grooves left on my body where I have been laying on a hammocks and this type is great in that it doesn’t leave these. As the hammock becomes more popular with your entire family, you must ensure that you manage to book your time on it to chill out! Like most people, I do not like getting all hot and sticky when I am meant to be relaxing in my hammock, so as to avoid this, I tend not to use my fabric hammock when it is hotter and more humid then usual!

Expenses wise, buying a hammock should never break the bank, the costs are usually very reasonable. Many people choose to go for the cheapest option of a rope hammock, which I think is a mistake as without a doubt Mayan hammocks are the nicest and you can find a cheap version, you just have to look hard enough!! There is nothing better then Internet shopping when looking for hammocks that are on sale or have been discounted as you can find come unbelievable deals and when you are lying back in your newly purchased hammock you will not regret it!
