Bedroom Designs – Skirt and Ruffles

by admin on August 8, 2009

Cozy Nite

Interior designers usually work best when taking up a bedroom. This room is, after all, a very intimate place for its dweller and should be a perfect canvass on which to paint one’s sense of artistry. And because the bed is the star of any bedroom, what a designer ends up creating out of it is usually what seals the whole design together. If you want an extra coziness to your personal quarters, consider bed skirts. They’re fun, lovely and they’ve got a function to carry out. Bed skirts actually serve the purpose of preventing accumulation of dirt under the bed. This fluffy, feminine thing, which hangs in drapes to the floor from that space between a mattress and a box spring, may come with random shears or electronic pleats. The extra fancy touch provided by bed skirts are always a favorite among moms and daughters, too. Again, it’s not only about this whole prettiness that these skirts add to the room. They actually have another purpose and that is to hide all sorts of items that may be stored under the bed. If only for their visual appeal, bed skirts are loved by adults but when it comes to children, things can get quite different. Most kids complain that those skirts are turning bed-making into a huge chore. True enough, those ruffles make it harder, especially in tucking sheets and blankets. Bed skirts also tend to be prone to tears that are why they need extra care during bed-making. Still, bed skirts make such lovely additions to any bed or bedroom design. But they don’t necessarily work with all types of beds. Boxed beds, for example, won’t do with ruffles nor do bunk beds. The skirts are a perfect fit, though, for any spring or platform bed as long as the skirt fits well. If you’ve got plans of “skirting” your own bed, great if have a room all yours. But if you’re sharing it with your partner, you might want to ask his opinion first. While you may rave about all that femininity flowing from those bed drapes, the guy might not find it such a good idea. Generally, guys wouldn’t mind letting their partners take charge with home interiors but some are quite particular, especially when the design involves an element that seems to make the design tip to one side, those ruffles being too girly and all. Skirts or no skirts, you’ll find lovely choices of bedroom furniture whether you look online or off and whatever you end up choosing, just make sure it’s quality bedroom furniture.
